Oil Pastel

This oil pastel is almost 20 years old. I have never had the heart to part with it, so it hangs in my studio. It took many years later to realize that it is a self portrait. I caught a peripheral glimpse of it today while painting and am thankful I have held onto it....

Worked on "Unikoi" today... all those underwater scales.

Hi Tracey - It's interesting to see how your style has developed from 20 years ago. This piece is so expressive - I hope you'll always have it!

Interesting Tracey!

When I first glanced at this painting, I immediately thought it was some kind of tortured demon running from something.

Then I read that not only is this painting 20 years-old but also a self-portrait of sorts.

So perhaps it represents a person, a tortured soul, that is trying to turn its back on old ways.....to literally leave the past and pain behind and forge ahead.

Or maybe I'm looking into it waaaaaaay too much!

In any case, I love it and the fact that the colors are all muted yet the painting is still very colorful!
